Summary
Background: As bullying and online bullying has become more present in schools, we conducted a survey where we analyzed the needs
of teachers and saw that the course is necessary. Professors are not trained to react in time, they don't always know who to
turn to or how to approach this problem. Also, they do not include the topic of violence in their programs, so students are not
familiar with the types of violence or how to act properly. The training is much needed to get practical advise and information
Objectives:
Professional development of teaching competencies: Developing teachers' competencies in recognizing, preventing, and
responding to violence. Availability of materials for teachers on the website. Educational objectives: raising awareness
among Spanish language teachers, creating a safe student environment. Recognizing unacceptable behavior and
appropriate response, as well as preventing violence that may be inferred in certain student groups.
Results:
1. Trained and skilled Spanish language teachers for recognizing, preventing, and appropriately responding to bullying or
cyber-bullying.
2. Webpage for Spanish language teachers in case of uncertainties, but also for further professional development in this
field. The website will also contain examples of best practices.
3. "STOP BULLYING" workshops for teachers, which will be based on interactive experiential methods aimed at creating a
safe teacher/student environment.
